"Training under Ian Dempsey has been a transformative experience. His tailored coaching strategies not only significantly improved my performance across all three disciplines in triathlon, but also instilled a sense of self-belief and determination to surpass my goals. Through Ian’s guidance, I achieved milestones I once thought were beyond my reach. The personalised attention to my training needs and the continual adaptation of my training plan have been a game changer. Ian's knowledge, experience, and unwavering support make him a standout coach, and I would highly recommend anyone serious about triathlon to train under his guidance."

"Working with Ian over the past year has enabled me to not just complete my first middle and full distance but also do it in a time I never thought would be possible!

All the stress of worrying about how and what to do and when was all removed because each workout was uploaded to my training peaks which Ian each week. The simplicity of then being able to load these workout sessions to my garmin was a total game changer so I could simply follow the instructions.

I know for sure without Ian as my coach I would have massively undertrained in some areas and probably overtrained in some areas too. Having Ian’s expertise to build this bespoke plan for me around the events I had in my race calendar was what helped me achieve my goals… and beat PBs!

Ian was always on hand if I needed to change anything last minute and would alter things depending on my routine so the plan felt manageable to fit my busy lifestyle."

"I’ve been with Ian for a number of years now having originally bumped into him at Mallorca 70.3 Ironman. Chatting over our races he instantly seemed to know how my race went, how I felt during the race then making suggestions on how it could be improved. Ian took me from a sporadic training programme from numerous books and peoples suggestions to a structured programme tailored for me from himself, someone who had like me started from scratch in the sport of triathlon. Through these years Ian has worked with and learnt from some of the best people in the sport and I have definitely benefitted from that. Having now qualified for 3 Ironman World Championships and still making progress in all disciplines I can highly recommend Ians knowledge and structured training programmes. Working together I reached my goal for a sub 4 hour Ironman marathon in 2023, after 7 attempts, our next goal is a sub 10 hour Ironman in 2024. Never give up and consistency is key."

In October 2019 I decided to try and give Kona another crack – but I needed a coach.

Bad experiences have taught me that without a coach I will either half-arse the training, or I will go mental and get injured. Throughout my entire life “restraint” has been hard to come by, so I needed a guide…somebody with knowledge for sure, but also someone I could trust and relate to. I have made some seriously stupid decisions in my life, but the decision to start working with Coach Ian Dempsey was one of my best.

I think perhaps we have had some similar experiences in our pasts because he kind of knew how I ticked from day one. The training he gave me was hard, but perfectly balanced;

He was never late, not even when he had Covid, or when he was in hospital or on family trips. We trained hard and we laughed…we laughed a lot (remember the face plant coach?) …All of which really helped me and my family get through the pandemic. I am a much faster and smarter athlete than I had ever been,
I cannot recommend Coach Ian’s training enough, it’s top class.
Best to all of you

My first part of the season was promising, but, unfortunately I had to stop because of an injury. Actually, this motivated me even more to continue the season, changing my goals. My first race was the AronaMen 70.3 Triathlon in Arona, Italy,  where I finished 3rd place in my age group. After a big and strong block of training during my vacation period, I participated in  Ironman Cervia-Italy, in September, achieving excellent results: 8h 42min as finishing time, 4th place in my age group and the achievement of the slot for the IRONMAN Kona World Championship in October 2024.  To conclude the season, I participated in the Peschiera Triathlon 70.3, obtaining a 4th place overall.

I have worked with Ian for the last 3 years, I love the sessions / process & feedback! Qualifying for kona is a dream come true, I will now focus on working towards my peak performance in kona with Ian. Would highly recommend. Column Text

Ian was recommended to me as I wanted to regain fitness and had lost my love for cycling and running…

Ian’s personalised plans have given me my confidence back with running and cycling and has helped me achieve new personal bests. I am now at a whole new level of fitness and feel the best I have done in years.

I chose this photo because I’ve always wanted to break 20 mins for 5k and did 19.43 that day lol I’ve been running since 2013 🤣

I've been with Ian for over 3 years now and over that time I've gone from "ok" to aiming for podiums and outright wins. In 2023 I qualified for 70.3 Worlds twice off some very low training hours, largely down to Ian nailing the best bang for buck sessions with limited time. Can't wait to nail my 2024 goals.
